Veterinary diagnostic solutions for allergy and food intolerance in dogs, cats and horses
PROTIA, a company specializing in in vitro diagnostic (IVD) medical devices, took part in the 51st World Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress (WSAVA Congress 2026). The congress was held at EXPO XXI in Warsaw, Poland, from October 13 to 15, and we presented our veterinary diagnostic solutions there to veterinarians from Europe and around the world.
Each year the WSAVA Congress brings together small animal veterinarians, researchers and industry professionals from about 100 countries, making it the world’s largest veterinary congress for companion animals.
This year it was held jointly with the Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA) and the Polish Small Animal Veterinary Association (PSLWMZ).
Around 5,500 participants from about 100 countries attended, the highest attendance of any WSAVA Congress held in Europe.
Over three days, lectures and hands-on workshops covered fields such as dermatology, feline medicine, emergency medicine and One Health, showing where companion animal care is heading.
PROTIA’s Veterinary Diagnostic Solutions
At the congress, PROTIA presented veterinary diagnostics that run from allergy testing in companion animals through to dietary management.
✔ ANITIA Canine / Feline / Equine IgE
- A multiplex allergy test kit for animals that quantitatively measures IgE specific to environmental and food allergens in the serum of dogs, cats and horses, for many allergens at once
- Identifies a broad range of allergy triggers from a simple blood draw, with no skin irritation or sedation
✔ ANITIA Food Intolerance Test 128
- A delayed food intolerance test that measures IgG to 122 food antigens, to help tailor diets for companion animals
The European Companion Animal Diagnostics Market
Europe is one of the world’s largest companion animal markets.
According to FEDIAF (the European Pet Food Industry Federation) in 2025, about 299 million pets live in 139 million households across 41 European countries, and nearly half of all households own at least one dog or cat.
The companion animal diagnostics market is growing as well. Market research firm MarketsandMarkets projects that the European companion animal diagnostics market will grow from about USD 430 million in 2025 to about USD 700 million by 2031, a compound annual growth rate of 8.6%. Dogs account for about 64% of the market.
Guidelines on canine atopic dermatitis published by the International Committee on Allergic Diseases of Animals (ICADA) state that allergy testing is used after a clinical diagnosis to identify the causative allergens for allergen-specific immunotherapy.
Because ANITIA checks many allergens from a single blood sample, it helps veterinarians identify the cause efficiently at this stage of care.
PROTIA’s Perspective on WSAVA 2026
WSAVA 2026 let us introduce PROTIA’s veterinary diagnostic technology directly to companion animal professionals from around the world and see the potential of the European companion animal diagnostics market.
Building on the congress, we plan to grow our veterinary diagnostics partnerships across Europe and bring our integrated solution, which links allergy diagnosis with dietary management, to more veterinary clinics.
PROTIA, Reaching Further
PROTIA is building global competitiveness in veterinary diagnostics on the multiplex technology we developed for human diagnostics.
We will keep delivering accurate, efficient diagnostic solutions that pets, pet owners and veterinarians in more countries can rely on.
